Born in Granada, Spain, Ricardo Fuentes Contreras earned his BMus in Viola from the Music Conservatory of the Basque Country, later completing an MA at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he was awarded the Josephine Euler and Santander Universities UK Scholarships.

Ricardo has performed with renowned orchestras like the National Symphony Orchestra (UK), Gulbenkian Orchestra (Lisbon), RTVE Symphony Orchestra (Spain), and the Neue Internationale Philharmonie of Munich. His tours spanned across Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and China.

In 2011, Ricardo co-founded the Gaudí Quartet, gaining insights from prestigious quartets and winning numerous accolades. He has worked with esteemed conductors, including Semión Bychkov, Susanna Mälkki, and Oliver Knussen.

Notably, Ricardo has participated in the International Chamber Music Festival Orlando in the Netherlands and the Banff Strings Quartet Festival in Canada. He recently expanded his chamber music repertoire, touring Europe and receiving coaching from Corina Belcea. He was also selected for the Juilliard String Quartet Seminar in New York.
